We built FuelFWD because biofuel compliance deserves better tools.
Founded in Rotterdam, built by a team that has lived inside the spreadsheets this industry has relied on for decades, and decided there was a better way.
Our mission
Certification schemes such as ISCC, REDcert and 2BSvs sit alongside national registries and EU databases. Together they create an ecosystem where compliance data and operational processes are fragmented across multiple systems, stakeholders and jurisdictions.
At the same time, evolving mandates and regulations continuously increase the pressure on companies to maintain full traceability across physical fuel movements, sustainability certificates, GHG calculations and chain-of-custody documentation, all at once. The cost of getting it wrong is high, both financially and legally.
For years, the industry managed this complexity through spreadsheets. Large spreadsheets. Sophisticated spreadsheets. Spreadsheets that worked, until a formula broke, a colleague left the company, or an auditor asked a question no one could answer fast enough.
FuelFWD was built to replace that entire way of working. Not as a generic compliance platform adapted to renewable fuels, but as a compliance engine designed specifically for the operational complexity of biofuels and biomethane.
Our platform continuously validates data, automates mass balancing, connects documentation flows and creates audit-ready reporting in real time, allowing compliance teams to scale without scaling administrative overhead.

Menno van der Zalm
Managing Director & Co-Founder
Menno comes from an entrepreneurial family in the maritime industry and developed a taste for innovation as a student in Rotterdam. Over the past 15 years he developed into a sustainability expert for the Energy & Chemicals industry. As co-founder and MD, he now combines all this passion and experience to build FuelFWD and contribute to a net-zero future.
Vincent Tribou
Product Director & Co-Founder
Vincent is curious about innovation, technology and the energy transition. He started his career in banking, financing commodity trades and discovering a conservative industry with many pains to solve and value to create. Already involved in the early phase of the project, he co-founded FuelFWD, taking on the role of Product Director.
Federico Pereiro
Engineering Director
Federico is experienced in developing and designing software systems, particularly web applications. For most of his career, he has worked together with the key stakeholders of businesses in a wide range of industries (finance, mobile games, entertainment, manufacturing) to lead the design and implementation of successful software projects that deliver business value.
David van Nijenhoff
Sales & Growth Director
David is experienced in international sales, business development, and commercial strategy. With a strong entrepreneurial mindset and a background spanning start-ups, scale-ups, and corporates, he leads FuelFWD's commercial strategy to drive growth and innovation in the renewable fuels industry.
Brent van der Hilst
Head of Customer Success
Brent brings a strong background in innovation, venture building, and customer delivery. He has been closely involved with the company from an early stage. As Head of Customer Success, Brent focuses on long term partnerships, customer outcomes, and ensuring FuelFWD solutions deliver value in daily operations.

Software Engineer
Paria is a product-focused builder passionate about turning ideas into impactful digital experiences. She works closely with teams to create solutions that are not only functional but meaningful and user-driven. With a strong sense of ownership and curiosity, she enjoys tackling challenges and bringing products to life.
